What It’s Like To Teach In Colombia

Colombia is committed to creating a bilingual populace for their nation which boasts the largest economy in South America. The nation’s National Ministry of Education partnered with the organization, Heart for Change, to create Colombia’s English Teaching Fellowship Program (ETF). This social initiative is dedicated to helping the country attract qualified English teachers for the country’s public schools.

Teaching in Colombia is so popular, almost 50% of English teachers extend their teaching opportunity. The ETF program strives to provide guest teachers with a safe, supportive environment that is fun to work in. TEFL teachers act as co-teachers, working alongside a local Colombian teacher. The type of knowledge gleaned working alongside an experienced Colombian teacher is priceless. This creates the opportunity for a TEFL teacher to grow their professional skills. TEFL teachers that are active in the local community discover an atmosphere for personal growth as they gain insight into the vibrant lifestyle of Colombian culture.
